Cruising

The Captain and I took a little jaunt down to the seaside, and nipped around the Slovenia/Croatia border. I always like going down there because it is gorgeous and reminds me of Ghana.

Tourism season hasn't started just yet so it was pretty ghostly quiet and peaceful down there.

all these people were wandering around the tall grassy areas looking for wild mushrooms and asparagus. this woman was selling asparagus

Wow, nice pics. Hard to believe this is Slovenian coast, it really looks like some foreign exotic country.

Love your blog, by the way.

well all of these pictures come from the croatian side where they are building brand new resorts and getting ready for tourists as fast as they can!

I love the shot of the dry-docked boats. Looks homey and dreamlike.

Stunning. I need to get my act together this year and visit either of the countries!

Wild asparagus- how cool! I never really tried to imagine how it grew wild (hanging off a palm tree like a hand of bananas, perhaps? or shooting back into the ground like a peanut?); should have been obvious that it was a grass.

In Korea, the big thing that people gather wild is kelp. "Just going out to pick some greens for dinner, dear,"...SPLASH!

@Elyse - Kelp? That's incredible!

Love the pictures! Which town was this in Croatia with the hanging boats? I'm really enjoying your blog. Greetings from New Zealand!

@maja - hello down there in NZ! waves
thanks for reading. there were a lot of small towns so i am not 100% certain but i think it was Istarska. There between Sečovlje and Umag.
There is a real estate company called Tingle and you keep walking past it towards the big camping ground.

I googled a bit and I think the place is called Savudrija. It looks lovely! I lived in a place 20km south of there for two months a couple of years ago (after running away from my Slovene mother-in-law...ha!) and never visited this place. Now it's so, so far away!

Great pictures. Seems like a pretty peaceful place to spend a few weeks at. Don't know about it though when people starts coming in on summer or something.
