tuš-kapa is a piece of crappa

The other day I went into the local beauty supply shop and in my round about Slovene speaking skills I asked for "something that I can use like a cap(kapa) when I take a shower (tuš)". To which she replied OH! Tuš-kapa. I really get annoyed when words are obvious. Oh well.

Anyway, this is what I got.

It has not succeeded in keeping all of my many hairs dry...AT ALL. I had a wonderful shower cap with Pucca on it in New York but I didn't think to bring it, and now I am suffering. I only wash my hair once or twice a week and the rest of the week I play an elaborate game of trying to position my body so that the hairs are away from the water but all the rest is being showered upon. This has proved a very difficult task, interfering on the joys of bath time.

If anyone out there in civilization would like to send me a REAL shower cap, I would be very thankful. If anyone out here in (what my friend Christina has deemed) "The Most Foreign Place In The World" can tell me where to find a good old fashioned normal shower cap with heavy duty rubber and elastic (like so)I will be even more grateful. I know its an odd request, but it just has to be possible.

Thank you and good night.

Hahahaha, sorry, I know this is a serious situation for you, but I can't stop laughing at the title of this post. :-)

I know nothing about shower caps (my hair is really short, so I don't care if it gets wet), but if you give me some guidelines as to what exactly a good shower cap should have and where I can buy, I'd be happy to send it to you.

usually what i do is to steal those damn shower caps in the m/hotels i sleep in (or my parents, for that matter) ... :D but on the more classy side: those caps that you desire are sold in the store called Flat here in Ljubljana. familiar with it?

Hotels are the way to go in Europe or get someone to send you some from the States. Our are the best.

Camille, how about one of these?

I've done the No-wet-hair dance in the shower plenty of times. Quite inconvenient. If you don't find them at the store suggested over there let me know. I'll gladly send you some from the States.

@alcessa- Oh Alcessa,
I've never been able to find a swimming cap lare enough to fit all my hair inside. I mentioned that in this post. So that is a whole other "can of worms"!

@au naptural - thanks for the offer, i'll keep you posted!

Heh...I feel your pain. I've been going to the gym every other day or so for the last few months, and thus having to wash my hair that often, which it absolutely HATES. Nappy mess, that is my head.

I'm taking the more extreme route, tho, and having my hair chopped short tomorrow. It will not sabotage my pathetic stab at fitness!

btw, this is wayward gaze from lj :)

Oh lord - that looks like a bit of miscommunication. Unless I am completely wrong, that's one of those plastic things that older women use to protect their hair when it rains.

At least here in the UK.

@Jess - I wish it was a miscommunication but I really think that's what they are working with for shower protection 'round these parts. I am no expert in the language but in this instance I feel almost entirely certain that I asked for the right thing and got the right thing (which was of course the wrong thing). :)
