Berlin Diary: Entry Number Zero Point Two

Here are a few images from the hour or so we spent in gorgeous Dresden.

I had a brief run-in with a gang of living statues where they tried to shake me down for undeserved Euros, but otherwise the trip was lovely and uneventful. Dresden, like Munich, has an oddly sterile feel to it, since it is almost entirely new (having been famously bombed to bits during the war), but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Berlin Diary: Entry Number Zero Point One

So I'm here in Berlin. Geez, where to start? That 's the question here every morning. So much to see, do, smell, taste! I'm overwhelmed by the choices. So I better start at the pre-beginning: the journey here.

My trusty Captain was kind enough to drive me up to Berlin and that ride included a two day stay in Prague and then a brief hour trek through Dresden. Here are a few images from those days, with captions.

A Visit to Swimming Cities

This afternoon we finally went to Ankaran to visit our friends from Swimming Cities of Serenissima. Here are some pictures!

Two Other Updates

Update#1
For those of you who read this post with interest, I just wanted to let you know that I succeeded in finding not only one great black girlfriend but TWO. They both have quite different backgrounds from me, but we can come together over the experiences we've had living here, our general experiences in the world, and our mutual love of life! I am so grateful for these special new friends.

Update #2
Thanks to any and all who lent any support to the intrepid young artists of Swimming Seas of Serinissima, they report that they have found housing and are now beginning to build their boat at the marina in Akaran. More info here.

Wheelville - an update

I know it has been kinda quiet here at Wheelville (sorry Drago!) and I apologize for that.

BUT you'll be happy to know that we have actually been busy working and raising funds for an AiW trip to Berlin. Yes people, the editors here at AiW decided to send me on an all-expense paid trip to the hippest city in Europe in order to give this blog a much needed pump of blood.

So for the month of May, I will be presenting the Adventures in Wheelville - Berlin Diary, where I will take a sidewise glance at Berlin through the lenses of someone who has been taking a sideways glance at Slovenia. Incredible stuff, eh?
